Thanksgiving

SoundTrack Don Pullen's "The Eagle Staff is First" Thanksgiving has always been one of the most difficult holidays for me. The first stages of my education like most Americans were full of an indoctrination that still sticks with me to this day. Many of those days I have long forgotten. They were full of pictures of pilgrims, ships and the talk of religious freedom. My imagination wondered what it would be like to have lived in such a great time-the harsh conditions and ultimately the gifts from the Native Americans. Years later, when I studied history and read independently outside of school, I realized I rarely ran into folks with Native American ancestry (outside of those blacks I know who said they got Indian in them) and the hypocrisy was in plain view. Transcendence is a collective of Bandwidth , Free Black Space , and Good Books for Good People . Our idea is to share information and topics of discussion on books, articles and ideas relating to China, India, Africa. We will cover art, politics, history, poetry, literature and general everyday news. Some of it will seem insignificant because much of our lives appears this way though it is not. As a first post, attached is a link to a New York Times article on the environment and steel in China. It's a complex story-the rise of Modern China. This article is now history and a blurb from a country that changes so fast the past of 2007 could read like a century.
